Illinois is full of biodiversity and as such, this 2,000 acre native species park hosts ambassadors of all five vertebrate animal groups: mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish! Learn more about the species that are indigenous to Illinois at the Park!
Note: Our Bison and Elk herds have been moved to their winter pasture. They are not visible like they are when they are in the summer pasture in front of the Visitor Center Bricks. We apologize, this is something we must do every year to allow the pasture to recuperate from all the summer grazing.
Our herds will return to their summer pasture in the Spring during the Spring Wake Up event on April 5, 2014.
